This morning EBay announced announced the eBay Community Codebase, a site for code sharing among EBay and PayPal developers. CollabNet (which O’Reilly co-founded with Brian Behlendorf) is hosting the site and providing the collaborative development infrastructure. From the EBay Press Release:
eBay, The World’s Online Marketplace®, today introduced the eBay Community Codebase, a new online forum for open source developer collaboration. The eBay Community Codebase (www.codebase.ebay.com), free to all eBay Developers Program and PayPal Developer Network members, allows developers to access source code for various eBay and PayPal tools and sample applications, and collaborate on new projects and innovations. The eBay Community Codebase is part of an effort to foster innovation and help developers more quickly and easily build applications using the eBay and PayPal Web services platforms.
Also, to encourage the creation and distribution of open source applications, eBay introduced a new pricing structure for Developers Program members. Individual tier members now have access to 10,000 free Application Programming Interface (API) calls per month, up from approximately 1500 per month. In addition, eBay has waived all certification fees for Individual tier members.
