Japan Squeezes to Get The Most Out of Costly Fuel

In a similar vein to the last posting, check out this article from the New York Times: "Even though Japan is already among the most frugal countries in the world, the government recently introduced a national campaign, urging the Japanese to replace their older appliances and buy hybrid vehicles, all part of a patriotic effort to save energy and fight global warming." The "enemies" that a nation defines shape its policies in ways that are often invisible to its citizens. What issues are we really facing as a country, versus the ones that we constantly hear talked about? The future will tell, though the warning signs are all around us.
