Greasemonkey script for international Amazon users

French Radar reader Stéphane Payrard (who is also, it turns out, the translator for the French edition of the Perl 5 Pocket Reference, 3rd Edition) wrote, in response to my recent posting about Julien Boulnois’ map mashup showing the likelihood of finding our French books in bookstores, based on their recent orders:

Here is another exemple of (modest) mashup to help buy books. This one is a client side mashup based on greasemonkey.

I buy many books written in English. I mostly blame O’Reilly for that! Being French, I usually buy
them on amazon.fr to save on postage time and cost, but most readers reviews are on amazon.com. It is very frustrating to do the same search twice, once on the american site, once on the French one.

So, I have written a very short greasemonkey script called CrossAmazon. For the page of any given book, it adds links from amazon.com to other countries amazon sites. Now, I can read reviews on amazon.com and click to buy on amazon.fr.”

If I were Amazon, I’d offer this greasemonkey script for download on their international sites. Nice work.
