Steve Jobs' Commencement Speech at Stanford

Steve Jobs' recent commencement speech at Stanford was moving and deeply wise. I saw the text when someone posted it to Dave Farber's IP list, and I immediately forwarded it on to my wife and kids, and a moment later, to all my employees. It's a must-read! The official transcript is available on the Stanford web site.

If you think at all about how to bring more meaning and passion into your life, read this speech. If you have kids who are old enough to be thinking how to spend their life, give it to them. Just wonderful.

Funny how Slashdot spun the story in the opposite direction: Steve Jobs In Praise of Dropping Out.

Like you, I passed it on to everyone I know.

How can we compare Steve Jobs with Larry Ellison?

I'm glad you passed a link to the full text along, Tim. Like the comment above, the only press that I saw from this was the cynical evaluation given by a Slashdot poster, which was in turn picked up by various media agencies and fed throughout the web.

That's too bad. I bet Steve Jobs' insights would connect the dots of a number of lives that may otherwise be struggling to find some tangible purpose.

Why settle for a short video and a transcript when you can get the entire speech in audio format?

I recorded his speech and uploaded it here:

Enjoy!

I was so impressed by the address and I made a Japanese translation and made it available on my web site:

I'm a great fan of this speech. And as Masahide Yoshida, the text deserves to be translated into other languages. So I put it on Traduwiki.org (a wiki where users co-translate text documents) and if there are people who want to contribute to the French, Spanish, German, Italian or Portuguese versions, they are more than welcomed.
