Autumn Omakase
I read a restaurant/foodie web site called Tasting Menu. The owners of the site have just put out their second "electronic cookbook," which is a free-for-now PDF download called "Autumn Omakase." Their intent seems to be more to celebrate individual chefs they enjoy (each cookbook is about a single chef) rather than anything else.
The cookbook is beautiful -- fantastic photography, lovely layout, and astonishing recipes. I don't really know what to make of it, other than to say, you have to see this.
The last page of the book is a nice summary of the author's intent.
