Uploading & Geotagging Photos from Phone
Tom Coates has posted a thorough tutorial for Zonetag, Yahoo! Research's cameraphone Flickr uploader. In his post he describes installing the software, buying the proper external GPS unit and uploading photos. Chris Heathcote has also posted reviews of several other photo uploaders (including Shozu, Meaning, and Context Watcher. If you are interested in getting this functionality on your phone these two posts are well worth the time spent reading them.
The other week I posted about adding location awareness to hardware. Most of my post centered on adding this capability to cameras for the purposes of geotagging your photos. At the end of my post I made an off-hand comment about getting location added to my phone. When I made that comment I was thinking about how that would modify services like Dodgeball (you would no longer have to actively check-in), big games (it would provide more game types like Pixie Hunt), local search & advertising (*potentially* much more relevant), and photos (for geotagging). I want this and I am glad that software providers will be ready when the hardware catches up.

Many phones _know_ their GPS location to within reasonable accuracy anyway. A problem seems to be making that information available to applications in the phone or in the network.
This tutorial would be even cooler if it helped us break through that barrier.
I really like the idea of GPS on a camera. I was playing around with geotagging on flickr which is cool but the whole process just seemed so manual. I don't have a camera phone anymore I finally gave in and got a blackberry.
LOL Imagine the many application for such a feature in other devices besides phones. How about remotes, keys, pets, laptops?
Imagine if you could just login to these devices over the web and then easily locate whatever that is lost along with a snapshot of the location taken by the locater.
The technology seems to exist now, now if only it were commercially viable.

I park my car on city streets overnight and I sometimes forget by the next morning where I parked it.
I'm looking forward to the day when I can take a picture of of the car with my cell phone and the next day my phone tells me where the car is. Better yet would be to just permanently link the phone and car and skip the taking-a-picture part.
This would be useful for airport parking lots and parking garages also.
