Thirsty Light: Botanicalls in a Pin
BoingBoing Gadgets points to the Thirsty Light, a moisture sensor that alerts you when your plant needs water. The more your plant needs water the faster it blinks.
It's very similar in function to Botanicalls (Radar post) -- though not quite as proactive. The Asterisk-based system would call you based on light and moisture sensors. The Thirsty Light seems much cheaper and easier to have at home.

So how long do the batteries last? I think that's one of the most important questions and BoingBoing doesn't answer that - and of course the product page itself neither.
I have some physical/chemical indicator, which turns from blue to red if the plant is dry. But it also does not work very accurate, after some months the color change is not clear anymore.
they are so funny, if i have much plants and much thristy lights i don´t have to go to the disco anymore :) nice find.
Useless cheap crap. This I thought in the first moment... But it's great. I did a look on my poor plants around and now I'm sure, it IS great. I will try to buy some. Thank you.
Meh... I'll stick w/ my finger. It works well, and does all sorts of other things too. mmmm multitasker.
