Good quote from Learned Hand
I've mentioned my "quotes file" from time to time. Here's one that I just added, from famed American jurist Learned Hand:
"The spirit of liberty is the spirit which is not too sure that it is right."
I came across it in a New Yorker profile of Barack Obama, which describes him as "the conciliator."
It's worth thinking on.

The rest of the quote is good too: "the spirit of liberty is the spirit which seeks to understand the minds of other men and women."
Great quote. I also love quotes from Thomas Jefferson.

Not sure why, but after reading that, the quote that popped in my mind was:
"Do not take counsel of your fears."
I had to Google it to find out it was Patton. I thought maybe it was Churchill. Maybe it's the self-encouragement as a counterpoint to self-doubt.
Barack is different.
