The NYC Toy Fair for geeks, scientists and engineers

MAKE Magazine spent the week at the New York City Toy Fair looking for the latest DIY, science and engineering toys. While there was a lot of awful mind-numbing toys amongst the thousands of companies MAKE found some real gems: Wi-Fi VEX robots, 30 sided dice, time rental for large telescopes, wood automatons, 3D viri, triassic triops, space crystals and perhaps the most interesting "toy" that isn't a toy yet - two engineers brought their linear propulsion system in hopes of finding an application for it, all this and more here.
