Where 2.0: City-level geocoder API

Yesterday in my Link roundup I mentioned the GNS database of placenames and lat-long. Mikel Maron, who presented at Where 2.0, pointed me to his geocoder based on the same data, which has a REST API and integrates into Google Maps. I've seen several of these Google Maps extensions lately, a sign that Google Maps is becoming a platform and not just a library.
