Ask Adds Search Targeting Tools

ask logo
Ask, the smallest of the big search engines, just released a great update to their local search site, AskCity (launched in December - I liked it). This release adds the ability to draw an arbitrary shape or line and search along it (their post has all of the different capabilities or you can use this map as a starting point). Wow, smart. This is targeted search using a very intuitive interface.

I've been enjoying the 3D race that Google and Microsoft have been engaged in (Radar post) and I want it to continue, but Ask's release shows that there is still a lot of room to innovate in 2D.
