“I live on the outer edges of a hamlet called Varna, and I’ve written about it a lot of times on my Living in Dryden blog. (Dryden’s the town containing the hamlet.)
Earlier this week, I got an inquiry from a reporter in Bulgaria who was doing an article on places other than Varna, Bulgaria which were named Varna.
He used a number of photos and let me republish the result.
I can’t say this is a triumph of the Creative Commons license for the site, as they’re a commercial venture and I gave (free) permissions to use the pictures, but it was an interesting way to see the international nature of the Web and I was pleased that they did pause to ask for permission.
Varna transliterated into Cyrillic looks a lot like BapHa, but the rest of it’s beyond me.
Seemed like a strange enough thing to post here on a Friday afternoon.”
