Thanks for your comments, the blog posts, and the emailed thoughts. The judges have deliberated long and hard over a glass or two of New Zealand PInot Noir, and the verdict's in: Keith's suggestion of turning the Netflix users into recommendation engines did it for me. It's topical, it's ingenious, and I loved the idea of being able to find the sleeper hit spotters. Keith gets his choice of O'Reilly's new releases mailed to him. Thanks for playing everyone, that was fun.

Interestingly enough, I just discovered that Netflix has offered a million bucks to the team that builds a better recommendation engine. Looks like they're only interested in algorhthmic solutions, however. Perhaps we can collectively twist their arm... so to speak.
