O'Reilly Labs Image Search and Quiz

Similar to the code quiz, Ryan Grimm just launched an image quiz, as well as an image searching tool. On the search tool he comments:

The search uses metadata about where the image came from (book title, chapter title, author, isbn, etc) along with the preceding and following paragraphs to find images that are relevant to the users search terms.

The thumbnail view has a few javascript tricks that I’m excited about. When you click on a thumbnail it will expand and overlay the full size image on the screen. You can drag these full size thumbnails around the page, open up multiple images, use the arrows to cycle through results, all kinds of fun stuff.

The image quiz is easier than the code quiz when there’s a tell-tale clue embedded in the image, but sometimes it’s much harder, for example when you only have a few boxes of a flowchart to try and determine the book.
