Maker Faire this spring in San Mateo drew 40,000 people and blew a lot of minds. Next weekend (October 20-21), the Faire is coming to Austin, Texas, with highlights from San Mateo but also an amazing cast of local makers. It’s been really heartening to us to see just how widespread the Maker phenomenon is. Dale Dougherty and the Make team really called this one. The DIY renaissance is in full swing. And as we always remind you here, hackers and alpha geeks are great predictors of the future. Things that they do for fun often turn into business as entrepreneurs follow.
