Ignite is a fun geek event featuring a series of speedy presentations on topics that geeks hold dear–anything from crypto to beekeeping. Speakers each get five minutes on stage with twenty slides that auto-advance after fifteen seconds. The format is a challenge for presenters, but a boon for the audience, because speakers have to be focused and prepared (or feel pretty silly up there). The Ignite slogan says it well: Enlighten us, but make it quick. Usually the crowd is fueled by beer and the adrenaline generated by watching a speaker match their presentation’s tempo. If you’ve never been to an Ignite you may have your chance in the coming weeks. There are ten community-organized events in the next month–five of them on November 13 (what is it about that day?):
