Tim O'Reilly

Unfortunate Metaphors, NCTA Edition...

Lawrence Wilkinson writes in email:

Says it all; doesn't begin to say it:

"The Googles of the world, they are the Custer of the modern world. We are the Sioux nation,"

- Time Warner Inc. Chief Executive Richard Parsons said, referring to the Civil War American general George Custer who was defeated by Native Americans in a battle dubbed "Custer's Last Stand," as he spoke for "traditional media" at the National Cable Telecommunications Assn. annual convention.

Beware the long arm of the law (of irony)...

What more could I add? I'm dumbfounded. This is twisted thinking on so many levels.
