I’ve really been enjoying this year’s 24 Ways, the advent calendar for web developers. It’s got a great collection of informative articles on web design and javascript hackery. Some articles this year include:
- Tracking Christmas Cheer with Google Charts by Brian Suda – Fun with Google’s latest API — Brian includes a hack on how to make sparklines.
- Get To Grips with Slippy Maps by Andrew Turner – Always trying to make maps easier, Andrew provides a lesson on his Mapstraction library.
- Unobtrusively Mapping Microformats with jQuery by Simon Willison – Simon takes a break from OpenID and provides a geo-tour of microformats (and builds on Andrew’s Mapstraction article in the process).
- Underpants Over My Trousers by Andy Clarke – Really great analysis on the use of borders, whitespace, and panels in comics and how those concepts can be used in web design.
They are only on article 15; there’s nine more articles to come this year. You can find the articles from 2005 and 2006 on the site.
