Nice shoutout about ESL 2ed - I took their short course (http://www-stat.stanford.edu/~hastie/mrc.html) in Philadelphia and I highly recommend it.

They're like the Grateful Dead of statistics: give the tapes away for free, people will pay for the concerts. =)
